About Catherine

Catherine has always had a love of Art/Design in all its forms. She maintains a particular love & passion of abstract art initially studying Art/ Design & Mixed Media.

She studied Display Design in D.I.T. for two years. She then received a Post Grad Diploma in Graphic Reproduction Technology & Printing.

Her love of Interiors led her to completing a foundation course in Interior Design which helped her become aware of art and its contributing role in the home environment niche.

Catherine went on to work in the field of Window Display Design & Visual Merchandising, a career that spanned twenty-six years. During this time her love for abstract art has always been kept alive through her painting!

Catherine also enjoys creating through the wonderful art of silversmithing & Jewellery design. All these facets of art/design have greatly encouraged her painting style to evolve bringing a conscious awareness of shape, colour and form. Her work in acrylics lend themselves to be of a very distinctive textured and tactile quality. Her style can range from bold saturated splashes of colour to identifiable atmospheric subtleties. She takes the viewer on a visual journey through her use of lines, mark makings and layers.

She has work currently on display in Taylor Made Crafts Ardgillan Castle in North Co. Dublin and a series of work in the Rock Bakery Café Skerries. Catherine takes part in annual art fundraisers for various charities such as the C.R.C in Clontarf, Outhouse art auction and Incognito in aid of the Jack & Jill Foundation. Her work has been exhibited in the Cowshed Gallery Farmleigh Phoenix Park, Lusk Cultural Centre, Gallery Eleven Stillorgan, Malahide Gallery and One Space Culture Cork. She is a member of ArtnetDLR & exhibits in Walter’s of Dunlaoghaire. She is also a member of the Fingal Art Collective group in North County Dublin. Catherine is involved teaching evening adult art classes where her passion for abstract art plays a huge part. She wants everyone to know that creativity is available for all and not just a given to artists. Her ethos is creativity is simply part of being human & needs to be harnessed, encouraged and supported.
