About Rita

I am an artist based in Balbriggan, Co Dublin. I have enjoyed painting for many years and I work primarily in oils. Usually, I work from photographs but I also enjoy painting ‘en plein air’. When the weather is kind, painting in the open can be both a challenging and rewarding experience.
Trying to capture the changing shapes and tones of the landscape or the constant flow of the sea. I get a great sense of achievement when a painting reflects my response to the landscape. I have participated in the local Dublin en plein air festival for many years and love to meet other artists.
Recently, I have explored drawing with charcoal and I find it an exciting medium. It is a liberating material when exploring tones of light and dark . It offers the opportunity to explore a wide range of mark making , tone and texture.
I held my first solo exhibition in Skerries Mills in 2022. Since then I have participated in the
Boathouse Painters Group exhibition in Millfield Centre. In August 2025, I joined a group of artists that exhibited in The Seamus Ennis Summer Art Exhibition.
